Bigeye #10: 3dfx Voodoo2 SLICreated on May 30, 2020 Conserve bandwidth! Change quality: 240 480 720 Maximum ...but did you really need the AGP bus for super fast 3D acceleration? Perhaps other PCI-based 3D accelerators were just inefficient, for the Voodoo2 is able to deliver 3D acceleration on the dated PCI bus, even outclassing many AGP cards of the time! Not only that, you can combine two Voodoo2 cards together with a simple SLI bridge to achieve even higher frame rates and run your games smoothly at 1024x768! It seemed the PCI bus was already reaching its limit in 1998, but the Voodoo2 proved it had a long way to go. One or two Voodoo2 cards can be highly effective additions to almost any system from 1995 to 2000. Whether your system needs one or two cards depends on how fast it is and if you need 1024x768 resolution. The Asus P2B is one of the earliest motherboards sporting Intel's 440BX chipset, which is highly revered among retro enthusiasts. This is Intel's first chipset to introduce a faster 100MHz front side bus, compared to previous chipsets running at 66MHz. The later ones also have unbelievable flexibility; those manufactured in late 1999 and onward support Coppermine CPUs up to 1.1GHz. Yes, I know the image is out of center; VGA capture cards tend to be really inconsistent on whether they will get the whole image perfectly in frame or not, and it can be difficult to notice when you're not looking at the screen. There's nothing I can really do about it at this point; I had 30 computers to go through.CommentsNo comments for this page. Leave a Comment |
